1956

Airex AG is founded in Sins, Switzerland.

1960

AIREX AG produces the first exercise mats made of foam material.

Early 1960s

Airex AG is a leader in the development of textured foam cores for the sandwich market. Introduction of a new fabrication process for closed-cell foam cores.

1975

Start of the new AIREX® soft foam production. The innovative closed-cell foam material has a major influence on the market for safety vests and gymnastics mats.

1980

Airex AG does pioneering work in the continuous extrusion of lightweight polymer foam panels. Distribution of the innovative FOREX rigid foam panels begins through dealers for the display application, exhibition stand construction, signage and point of sale markets.

1985

A new office building, processing and warehousing facilities are constructed.

1995

Market launch of the Balance-pad.

2000

The Alusuisse Group joins the Alcan Group – Alusuisse Airex AG becomes Alcan Airex AG, Switzerland.

2003

Alcan Airex AG and Alcan Baltek Corp. are combined to form the global unit Alcan Composites Core Materials.

2005

With the launch of the AIREX T90, the company is the first to introduce PET foam for sandwich applications.

2006

Airex AG celebrates its 50-year anniversary.

2009

Schweiter Technologies takes over Alcan Composites.

2012

Market launch of a new generation of the AIREX® gymnastics mats.

2016

Airex AG celebrates its 60-year anniversary.
